He holds the distinction of being the fourth youngest century scorer in World Cup history, following the likes of Ireland’s Paul Sterling, Australia’s Ricky Ponting, and Sri Lanka’s Avishka Fernando. Before this tournament, Afghanistan had only secured a single victory in their Cricket World Cup history, back in 2015. However, in the current campaign, they have delivered extraordinary performances, with four wins out of seven matches, including three consecutive victories, putting them in contention for a spot in the semi-finals.

Zadran acknowledged the influence of Sachin Tendulkar, saying, “I had a good chat with Sachin Tendulkar. He shared his knowledge from his 24 years of experience and inspired me to play a historic knock against Australia, just like he did.”
