Game of Thrones, probably the most popular show on the planet, is slated to make its return for its eighth and final season in April 2019. A new official GoT Season 8 teaser was released by HBO this morning and the video has already gone viral.
In the 38-second-long teaser clip, the camera pans over the painted table map of Westeros, which the viewers of the show have witnessed time and again before, for instance when the Lannisters and Daenerys are planning their strategy in the war council room for their impending battles to be fought, in order to win or protect the throne.
Well, this may come as bad news for fans but there is no actual footage from the forthcoming season in the teaser and nor are there any human characters. No official date in April has also been disclosed as of yet. What really happens is that ice engulfs the North and the sigil of the Starks, the Direwolf along with a Dragon. Does that mean after Viserion, one more dragon, either Drogon or Rhaegal, and one of the Starks will further fall prey to the White Walkers?
Further deep into the official tease, which is named Dragonstone that also happens to be the name of the first episode of Season 7, we see the Lannister Lion being consumed by fire. Just like Cersie Lannister once said, “In the Game of Thrones, you either win or you die. There is no middle ground,” could this mean that Cersie will die protecting the throne?
At the point where the ice and fire finally meet, just as what George R.R. Martin’s epic fantasy novel series’ name A Song of Ice and Fire suggested, a new wall starts getting constructed. Does this mean there is going to be a new wall? Only time will tell.
